Who we are

Greenhouse is a 100% Black owned South African private limited company founded by Hallid Smith in 2012.

We provide a wide variety of business development and support services but we specialise in external monitoring and evaluation having assessed more than 100 Development (ESD/CSI/SED/sustainability) Programs.

Greenhouse is a 100% Black owned South African private limited company founded by Hallid Smith in 2012. We provide a wide variety of business development and support services but we specialize in external monitoring and evaluation having assessed more than 100 Development (ESD/CSI/SED/sustainability) Programs.

We have established relationships with government, corporate sectors and more than 35 000 small businesses and our main objective is to create jobs by supporting SMME growth initiatives.  After several years of experience working with government and the private sector, we developed an integrated approach with innovative tools that can measure, monitor, support, maintain and improve the impact of development programs globally. Services include training, consulting, monitoring and evaluation, project management, assessments, mentoring and coaching.

Hallid brings over a decade of experience in business development and marketing, renowned for his innovative approach and broad skill set ranging from project management to capacity building. Mymoena Arnold, the Portfolio Manager, contributes her profound expertise in youth development and skills training, emphasising professionalism and efficient client care. Shukri Arnold, as the Technical Director, adds a global perspective with extensive experience in consultative relationship management and project management from his tenure in the UK.

This adept team synergises its varied strengths to deliver comprehensive and client-focused business development solutions, underlining Greenhouse’s commitment to excellence and sustainable growth.

Hallid Smith

Owner and CEO


Hallid Smith, the Founder and CEO of Greenhouse Business Development is a distinguished professional with over 12 years of experience in business growth, marketing, and a wide range of development skills including project management, conflict resolution, and entrepreneurial training.

Renowned for his exceptional networking and communication abilities, Smith has worked across diverse environments from executive boardrooms to community youth groups.

Additionally, Smith leads the Greenhouse Foundation NPC, a non-profit focused on economic development, job creation, and business support through critical consulting, analytics, and management services.

Mymoena Arnold

Portfolio Manager


Mymoena’s love for nurturing the potential of youth has culminated in her establishing consulting and training companies before joining Greenhouse. Her expertise lies in developing customised skills programmes and learnerships that would enhance the employment opportunities of youth in this country, as well as up skill current employees who hail from previously disadvantaged backgrounds with limited access to resources and funding.

Mymoena has conducted facilitation for different private clinics on e.g., COIDA (Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act). In addition, Mymoena has developed her own Private Practice Administration and Reception Training manual with widespread success among established healthcare providers.

She has presented various youth workshops on personal growth, development, managing stress and other related life skills. Mymoena is precise and meticulous, with a no-nonsense rule when it comes to executing the highest professionalism at all times. Effective and efficient client care is stressed and seen as top priority.

Mymoena is a peoples’ person known for her quality service and height of professionalism.

Shukri Arnold

Portfolio Manager


Shukri is a South African native whom has recently returned to Cape Town having spent the last 12 years working in the United Kingdom. His international experience incorporates extensive consultative relationship management, operations, business analysis & project management experience within various industries ranging from Information Technology through to the Banking and Financial Services sectors. His UK clients range from start-up business within online marketing (Elevatelocal), to an IT company (Intelliflo) promoting Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) to UK banks such as Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) and the UK subsidiary of US bank, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

He regularly consults into the private sector with an emphasis on business process management, business analysis & product development. He aligns these skills with his project management experience within the bespoke software development arena (based on Agile methodology).

His strong organisational and communication skills honed in the time-critical, pressurised environment of the UK’s Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) Treasury trading floor coupled with exemplary client-centric service delivery enable him to be the consummate professional when it comes to client service management.

Shukri is a qualified Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and has also been involved in developing systems training material for both a UK Financial Services SaaS company (Intelliflo) as well delivering in-house training to a team of Financial Derivatives Trade Support assistants within HBOS and a Trade Operations team at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

We are a Level 3 BBBEE company that is 100% black owned. In addition, 67% of our management team is comprised of historically disadvantaged persons and 33% are female. We also strive to procure services from Level 3 (or higher) BEE qualified service providers and suppliers as much as possible.

Our Corporate Social Investment

Greenhouse Business Development Pty Ltd funds the Greenhouse Foundation nonprofit company offers FREE business information sessions that equips companies with the solutions required to create the environment for sustainable and measurable growth. The target audience would be business owners and directors from SMMEs
